Visit us
You are always welcome to
visit the AFU archives and to use our facilities. Please let us know of
your plans at least one week before you intend to come here, so that we
can prepare. If you have very definite research plans we might need more
time for preparations.

Where we are |
The AFU archives are in
Norrköping, a mid-sized Swedish town with old industrial
traditions. Norrköping lies on the Motala Ström river, has
prominent paper industries, a large harbour on the Baltic,
logistics and shopping centers, and a University with a new
Visualization Center (inaugurated in 2010). View more about
Norrköping on the
community's homepage. While here, you & your family might
also want to visit the great
Kolmården zoo with exotic animals from all over the world.

|
Where we are.. more exactly |
You will find AFU
in four simple (but effectively used) basement facilities in a
quiet 1950's housing area. All of the facilities are within 200
meters of each other along the same street, Ljuragatan.
We are a low-cost operation based on idealistic ideals.

Come here by train |
Norrköping is along the main
railway to Stockholm from the European continent via Malmö. To
view timetables and prices on Swedish trains go to the Swedish
State Railways
here. From the Norrköping railway station you will be able
to go directly to within just a few hundred meters of the
archives on Norrköping's latest
tram line, to be inaugurated in late 2010. |
|
Come here by car |
Norrköping is at the cross
roads between European roads E-22 (following the Swedish east
coast) and E-4 (midland highway going from Helsingborg to
Stockholm and northern Sweden). Norrköping is about two hours
driving distance from Stockholm and some four-five hours
distance from Malmö. If you need detailed addresses to feed into
your GPS, or advice for finding the way, please let us know.

Come here by air |
You can come here on daily
flights via Copenhagen (Cimber
Sterling Air) or Helsinki (Finncomm/Finnair),
from anywhere in the world. More info about daily flights to and
from our airport can also be found
here. The Norrköping airport is just one-two kilometers from
AFU. There is a regular bus line ("116") from the airport that
passes just a few hundred meters from the archives. From 2010,
Ryanair has regular flights from Alicante in Spain. You can also
come here through the Ryanair's Swedish hub at Skavsta airport,
some 40 kilometers from AFU. |

Low-cost living |
For low-cost living we
recommend
Teotess, a hostel within walking distance from AFU, just a
few hundred meters away. If you prefer a better class hotel
within walking distance we can also recommend
Södra
Hotellet. If you need more alternatives consult
this. |
