ARCHIVES FOR UFO RESEARCH

AFU

Recent donations 2006 - thanks for your very kind support!

From Hilary Evans, London, Nov. 2006.
During our recent 'collection tour' of Britain, paranormal researcher & picture librarian Hilary Evans donated a large number of red archive boxes crammed with extremely interesting source materials.

The kind of material that is 100 % perfect for our library!!

In the picture above, a fraction of this collection: 25 new (to us) document collections from the 1980s, all published by William L. Moore of Burbank, California.

The Hilary Evans collection of small booklets, documents, document collections, articles, etc. have been sorted and catalogued to our media & book library (where possible) for future retrieval. A listing of the 176 items from Hilary Evans in 2006 can be found here.

Other parts of the Hilary Evans "red boxes" will be added to our collections of clippings, magazines, magazine articles and working papers from UFO societies world-wide. This will all make the material much more retrievable for research.

From Bill Jones, Ohio, USA, Nov. 2006.
Another box full of new items for the AFU library -- and our  paraphernalia museum -- received from our friend Bill Jones. As usual, new issues of the Ohio UFO Newsletter, and a plethora of other (world-wide) UFO-related publications.

From Janet & Colin Bord, Nov 2006
In the donation from the Bords (see more below) we have catalogued a large number of pictorial books and series of books for the AFU library.

First seven books in the Reader's Digest series Quest for the unknown.

UFO's: the continuing enigma, Unsolved mysteries of the past and Bizarre phenomena all include references to UFO's.

From Janet & Colin also 13 editions of the Mysteries of the unknown series by Time-Life. These are all American editions.

We often see these books in more or less complete lots on sale at eBay but have refrained from them due to the heavy cost of shipping to Sweden.

We also received...

...three other pictorial editions from Time-Life, two of them from the Library of curious and unusual facts series.
...and a number of other pictorial 'coffee table' books, two of them in French, from the Larousse publishers.
And, from the Bords also - of course - a number of their own publications in English. Visit their web site to get a complete picture of their publications. This is also the place where you can order your own copies of their books.
From Janet & Colin Bord, North Wales, UK, Nov 2006
Janet and Colin Bord have donated a box full of mostly German editions of their published works. There are also copies of Swedish and Spanish editions.

Beyond the basic needs of the AFU library, which is two copies of each edition for preservation, we will soon put up about a dozen extra copies for sale on eBay to generate funds, possibly for next years' tour to Britain, when the Bords have promised us more materials from their gold-mine. To further increase the sale value of the books they were all signed by the two authors!

The Bords in the midst of their rich fortean and folklore library, photo by Clas Svahn.

Besides being an author & photographer couple the two run the Fortean Picture Library.

During the coming days and weeks we will detail other important aspects of the collection brought to us through the recent donation from Janet & Colin. For a first glance see our Magazine collection: USA A-K web page. More to follow!

Copies of psychiatrist Berthold Schwarz' books are hard to find. Here three books, in mint condition, donated to us by the Bords.
Three books about SETI research donated by the Bords. At our new library planned for 2007-2008 we will sort most books by subject codes to make them more accessible to the visiting researcher.
Three books in the astro-archeology genre donated by the Bords. On the right the Indian edition of one of W. Raymond Drake's books. We had a copy of the same book donated in 1987 by Drake himself, but this new copy is much, much better preserved!
From Joe McGonagle, UK, Nov 2006.
The fuzzy picture on the right is an attempt to depict a number of British duplicated magazines from the 1960s, donated to AFU by Joe McGonagle.

Included are issues of the title Saucer Forum, published first in the early 1960s by David C Jones and in the mid-1960s by Jimmy Goddard. Also photo copies of old magazines like Enigma, Axminster Light Centre Newsletter and MAPIT Skywatch to make our previous holdings of these newsletters more complete!

From John Harney, UK, Nov 2006
Another British ufologist to donate materials for the AFU archive, via Clas Svahn, is John Harney, who is part of the Magonia board of editors and original publisher of the Merseyside UFO Bulletin, the old ancestor-relative of Magonia Magazine.

The donation included British. American and Canadian magazines, some of them well known to us, some completely new!!

From Ole Jonny Braenne, Oslo, Norway, Nov 2006.
Going back from the UK, through the south of Norway (no longer a direct ferry between Sweden and the UK!), Clas Svahn and Anders Persson, stopped by Ole Jonny Braenne, chairman of UFO-Norway and a long-time contact for AFU in Norway.

Some of the goodies received from Ole Jonny can be seen in the picture on the right:

books, documentary videos and DVDs, and UFO-related stamps from the Maldives, Nicaragua and Grenada. We also received a number of SF videos (to be catalogued but not a priority project) and popular US magazines with UFO articles that Ole Jonny buys on eBay, scans, and then sends on the originals to us.
From Hilary Evans, London, Nov 2006.
Hilary Evans, British fortean author, proprietor of the Mary Evans Picture Library, and previous donor extraordinary to AFU, made another great donation to us, when Clas Svahn and Anders Persson visited him on November 23-24.

First in the row, a great collection of UFO Newsclipping Service's that was reported upon on our Magazine collection: USA L-Z page, only a few days ago. Now for the second part (and.. more to come!) - material that goes into our book collection, see the picture on the left.

Includes three non-UFO titles (published in 1961, 1967 and 1979) from Hilary Evans' busy pen (or type-writer, or computer..). We have a library classification LU (other books by UFO-related authors) that cares for this kind of books. The blue booklet in the upper row, The moving statue of Ballinspittle, was written by Lionel Beer, another recent donor - see below.

From John Rimmer, London, Nov 2006.
During their tour of Britain, Clas Svahn and Anders Persson also paid a visit to Magonia editor John Rimmer in his new-built house. Rimmer is now a pensioneer and spends a lot of time editing the world's only magazine with a socio-psychological angle on UFOs and fortean phenomena.
Rimmer donated a number of UFO-related books and magazines to AFU, some of which can be seen in the picture below.
The material includes John Rimmer's own book (The Evidence for Alien Abductions) in their Portugese and Dutch costumes; the Fundación Anomalia's Diccionario Tematico de Ufologia (abbreviated D.T.U.), published in 1997; and copies of Roberto Banchs' OVNIs peregrinos del silencio (Buenos Aires, 1991) and Tom Lind's unique The Catalogue of UFO periodicals (1982). Great additions!
Also in the most recent John Rimmer donation a number of mostly British magazines. The ones pictured to the right were the (completely) new additions to the archives.
From Lionel Beer, London, Nov 2006.
One of the true veteran ufologists in the UK is Lionel Beer, who lives in the SW part of London, where he also operates his mail order business Spacelink Books from out of his home. This bookshop has existed almost four decades!

During their tour of Britain, Clas Svahn and Anders Persson visited Lionel Beer on November 23 and got a number of magazine items as gifts for the AFU archives, including copies of several publications that Beer has been involved with as the editor.

The stack included TEMS News (picture) which is a total newcomer in our files. Published by the Travel and Earth Mysteries Society this newsletter is nowadays edited in digital format as eTEMSNews. The paper issue seen in the picture to the left includes Lionel Beer's own "anecdotal history of BUFORA", the national group of which Beer was the first chairman.

From Clas Svahn, Dec 13, 2006.
(In the picture, some of) Clas Svahn's latest gifts to the AFU media libraries: books and videos found in bookstores during his November tour to the UK, and books found at the Semic Press offices when they are now emptying their bookshelves before moving into new headquarters.

Semic are the publishers of Clas Svahn's series of books including Det okända (The unexplained. Superna-tural phenomena in Sweden and the world, Sept. 2006) and Sekter och hemliga sällskap (Sects and secrets societies in Sweden and the world, to be published March 2007). Det Okända (below) has already sold 12.000 copies, which is an excellent result for a Swedish non-fiction book.

From Kalevi Mikkonen, Rovaniemi, Finland, Dec 2006
Our new donor from Rovaniemi in the north of Finland has sent us another batch of materials for the archives, which arrived here with Clas Svahn last Wednesday, December 13.

We have already catalogued about a dozen new books in Finnish, German, French and English related to astro-archeology, ufology & science fiction, and also a fairly complete set of the Finnish astronomical magazine Tähdet ja avarus (Stars and space), all in all 74 issues from the 1986-2002 period.

This magazine is published by the URSA Astronomical Society. It is particularly valuable since it includes a large number of colorful photographic shots of Russian satellites being launched from the Plesetsk base across the border from Finland; and also other very fine pictures of mundane sky phenomena.

From Philip Creighton, Manchester, UK, Nov 2006.
During the November tour to the UK, Clas Svahn visited with Philip Creighton (son of former Flying Saucer Review editor Gordon Creighton) in his new home in Manchester.

Philip Creighton donated seven UFO-related books from the Gordon Creighton collection bookshelf, including the pictured two French titles - new to our library.

From Jenny Randles, Ruthin, North Wales, Nov 2006
One of our goals has been to establish a complete collection of the books published by Jenny Randles, one of the most sensible observers and investigators of the UFO phenomenon in the English-speaking world.

Our library catalogue  lists some 50 titles & editions from Jenny, or from author teams where she took part.

During their November 2006 tour of Britain, Clas Svahn and Anders Persson managed to navigate to and from Jenny's home, where her time nowadays is mostly spent caring for her elderly mother with minor chances to research and write new books. In the picture, above, two newcomers to the AFU Randles book collection donated to AFU by the author, via Clas & Anders.
From Carl-Anton Mattsson and Parthenon, Nyköping, Nov 2006.
In the 1980s Carl-Anton Mattsson and his associates took over Parthenon, the Swedish publishing company which had been first to publish translations of American contactee books in Swedish (starting 1957). The Parthenon company has since published a number of titles in the fields of strange phenomena but nowadays works primarily as a distributor of books
from other companies. Parthenon recently inaugurated a new Swedish shop for antiquarian books. AFU got a unique chance to choose freely between the first list of titles announced on the web - and to get the books without any cost whatsoever!

In the picture above (unfortunately somewhat blurred) some of the fine gifts, including a probably unique original edition copy of Elizabeth Wilcox's book on Mu (translated into Swedish in 1964 by Parthenon). All the books have now been catalogued as very welcome additions to the AFU library. Carl-Anton Mattsson has also donated 850 SEK destined for our new acquisition of compact shelves.

From Thor-Leif Strindberg, Nässjö, Sweden, Nov. 2006.

Thor-Leif Strindberg (formerly Danielsson) was the  Swedish IGAP (International Get Aquainted Program)  representative in the 1960's and 70's. He published the magazine Kosmisk Bulletin    - influenced by contactee George Adamski - between 1969 and 1971.

Now he has donated his material to AFU:

magazines, booklets, photographs and correspondence. The most interesting part of the collection is the correspondence with other Adamski co-workers in Sweden and across the globe, such as Alice K. Wells, Fred Steckling, H C Petersen, Dora Bauer Lammer, May Morlet, and others. Also a fine set of the GA Foundation's Cosmic Bulletin that makes our collection of that publication for the 1970s complete. The file has now been ordered by Håkan Blomqvist into a a one-volume folder. A fine contribution to the AFU archives! Today Thor-Leif Strindberg works as a painter, see some of his fine art at his internet gallery.

From Kalevi Mikkonen, Rovaniemi,  Finland, November 2006.
AFU has a new benefactor in Finland, Kalevi Mikkonen,  one of the most experienced 'ufologists' from our neighboring country to the east.

On November 15, Clas Svahn unloaded the first contingent of materials from Kalevi's collection.

Clas was on his way to give an evening talk on the history of the Swedish military engagement in UFOs at the Swedish Air Force Museum.

Clas Svahn brought to AFU parts of the Mikkonen book collection (titles mainly in Finnish and German, see picture), but he had also with him Kalevi Mikkonen's clipping collection (see the Clipping collection: Scandinavia page) and a number of other gifts, collections & goodies, which will be reported here during the coming weeks!

We are in a little bit of a hurry to get all this material into our catalogs and archival systems, to free space at the area for incoming materials. We need it for further collections expected to be fetched by Clas Svahn and Anders Persson from the UK, and Norway, during this coming week. The two ambassadors   for AFU will go on a tour by car that will cover Sheffield, Manchester, London, Wales, Newcastle and Oslo.

From Bill Jones, Ohio, USA, October 2006.
From our friend in Ohio comes yet another box crammed with UFO materials and parapher-nalia, objects maybe for a future museum?

From Ole Jonny Braenne, Oslo, September 22, 2006.
From our Norwegian benefactor Ole Jonny Braenne comes yet another parcel (11 kilos) of UFO materials, mostly VHS videos which are replaced in  Braenne's vast collection of UFO documentaries and UFO-SF films by DVDs discs. In this parcel 11-12 documentaries and about twice that many fiction films.

Ole also kindly included a copy of the latest Norwegian book with a UFO-relationship: Ingen fremmed fugl   (Not an alien bird) by Norwegian contactee Bitten Pedersen (portrait below). The book is self-published (only 500 copies) with a beautiful cover (see right). It concerns Bitten's psychic / telepathic contacts with a space alien named Sasha. Bitten is writing yet another book on her contacts.

From Åse Markenlind, August 2006
Åse Markenlind is a new regular visitor to the archives, who recently donated a collection of commercial UFO-SF-related films to the AFU video library. Some of them are seen to the left.

Starting this summer we have begun to catalogue the video collection (more than 500 tapes by now), a rather tedious and time-consuming project.

From Sven Tommy Helmér, August 2006
From Swedish veteran ufologist Sven Tommy Helmér comes this small collection of American and German UFO books published between 1993 and 2005.

Several of them are completely new on the AFU library shelves. Helmér's previous donation was in April (see below).

From Anders Palm, August 2006
Swedish space journalist Anders Palm recently donated a copy of this great encyclopedia (the Swedish edition of the Illustrated Encyclopedia of Space Technology ) to Archives for UFO Research. A chapter on Swedish space research by Sven Grahn has been added to the Swedish edition of this book. Great reference work!
From Ole Jonny Braenne, June - July 2006.
Ole Jonny Braenne, our always helpful and kind representative in Norway, has donated a couple of new boxes of UFO materials this past summer. We think we have counted seven   big parcels coming from him, in the year 2006, alone!

In the picture on the right some of the new books, magazines & videos now added to the collection. We also hear from Norway that Ole Jonny is trying to secure yet another fine donation from one of the "old" Project Hessdalen investigators, so the stream of fine materials from our neighboring country will not stop!

From Bill Jones, Ohio, USA, August 2006.

Our frequent contributor Bill Jones has sent Clas Svahn another box full of things to make enlightening displays with, between our book shelves. This collection of paraphernalia will reach AFU on August 28, when Clas comes to the archives with another car-load of "uforalia".
From Carl Feindt, Claymont, Delaware, July 2006.
"Mr. Water UFO", Carl Feindt, has kindly donated a DVD copy of his presentation at the MUFON International Symposium in Denver, Colorado, just a few weeks ago.

Feindt specializes in UFO cases where UFOs arise from, or dive into, waters, or cases where UFOs are generally spotted close to waters. We Swedes could perhaps add another dimension to Feindt's studies with our "ghost rockets" (starting in 1946 and returning regularly almost every year as singular cases), which had, and have, an odd ability to put on shows over Scandinavian inshore lakes, often diving into the same with no trace left for the Swedish military to uncover (despite prolonged dive searches).

From Maj Ekelund, Karlstad, Sweden, June 2006,
Mrs. Maj Ekelund from the west-Swedish town of Karlstad has donated a small selection of Swedish and Norwegian UFO-related books that come from her husband Björn Ekelund, a diseased member of UFO-Sweden.

The excellently well-kept copies will be used to complete our library collection and for sales to bring in money for new acquisitions to AFU.

From Bernard Hugues, Marseille, France, July 2006
This is the second parcel from Bernard Hugues with materials collected by him for the local group in Marseille called CERPA. Included were about a dozen books in French (some of them contactee-oriented or local studies, see picture on the left), a couple of books in Italian and Russian, plus a number of magazines, a small correspondence archive from 1996, and also some plastic models, pins, etc. All of this has been catalogued and added to the growing AFU collection.
From Leif Persson, Sundsvall, Sweden, June 2006
Leif Persson - one of the managers of the UFO-Sweden report centre in Sundsvall, and a AFU sponsor for many years - has donated a collection of about 75 (mostly) UFO-related books to AFU. The collection includes an almost complete collection of "Vetenskapens värld" , a series of books on popular science, and, also, the books pictured on the right that will all go directly into the AFU library.
From Tapani Koivula, Finland, April 21, 2006
Finland has - more or less - been a dark spot on the map of international UFO studies, mostly because of commu-nication problems. The Finnish language is incomprehensible even to people from Scandinavia's neighboring countries. This is bad because Finland has a rich history of interesting UFO cases, particularly contacts and humanoid sightings, dating back to the 18th century, and also infrared UFO  photography research since decades back.

On April 21 UFO-Sweden's chairman Clas Svahn met his Finnish counterpart Tapani Koivula (pictured to the left) in Stockholm, and the two agreed to a continued cooperation.

Tapani Koivula brought with him a nice set of Finnish UFO books for the AFU library. Books we had previously only seen pictured in sales ads and written about in (incomprehensible) book reviews in the Finnish UFO-and-new-age publication Ultra   (see our Magazines: Finland section).

In the lower row (picture on the right) are Koivula's own two books, the one on the left a fiction novel with a title that translates as "Messages" .   In the upper row a book by Esthonian ufologist Igor Volke (left) and (right) a book titled "100 UFOs in Finland"   by a Finnish team headed by Tapani Kuningas, the editor-publisher of Ultra

Tapani also brought to Sockholm eight volumes of annual reports from the Suomen Ufotutkijat   (Finnish UFO Research Association - FUFORA) organization, of which he is the chairman, and its predecessor Vimana . AFU now owns a complete collection, up to year 2005, of these nicely produced yearbooks. Despite our problems with the Finnish language, Sweden has a large population of immigrated Finns and a collection of the Finnish UFO literature may be a great asset to us in the future.
From Venda, USA, early June, 2006
They hover above us   is the 59 pages document of nightly color photos self-published by 'Venda', an American woman who claims also to be a contactee.

We might think that many of her photos probably have common explanations, such as airplane lights, but the book gives very little information to really judge that from. This case - or cases - obviously needs a local investigation by an open-minded researcher.

Thank you Venda for donating a preservation copy to AFU of both the book and a CD with many of the photos in digital format.

From Clas Svahn, June 2, 2006
Clas Svahn brought David Clarke here (see Recent visitors) - and another batch of books and other donations. In the picture, some of Clas Svahn's own donations, including (front left) Das Oranur-Experiment, zweiter Bericht (1951-1956)   by Wilhelm Reich   and (front right) one of the William R. Corliss's  Catalogs: Biological anomalies: mammals II.
From Sven Tommy Helmér, April 2006.
Two of the German Econ editions of Erich von Däniken's earlier books. Donated to AFU by Swedish veteran ufologist Sven Tommy Helmér via Clas Svahn.
From Borgny Tingstedt, March 2006.
Swedish veteran ufologist Borgny Tingstedt has donated - via Clas Svahn - six audio tape recordings of contactee George Adamski lectures in London, Auckland and Palomar Terraces.

Borgny Tingstedt also kindly transferred the audio tapes to eight CD discs for our collection.

From Bill Jones, Ohio, received here on March 7.
No one in the UFO field is probably frightened by the green face on the right...or??

The face, and all of the things on our table, have been donated by Bill Jones, via Clas Svahn. The paraphernalia will decorate and liven up empty spaces in our library shelves, awaiting a place in our future UFO folklore museum. ;-)

On a more serious note, the donation also includes a number of back issues of the excellent publication Ohio UFO Notebook , of which we now have a seemingly complete collection (except issue #1..?). Also copies of the wonderful book on Grassroots UFOs - case reports from the Timmerman files   by Michael D. Swords and Lynn Picknett' s tome The mammoth book of UFO's  and also a number of special booklets published by The Mutual UFO Network of Ohio. Besides supporting AFU, Bill Jones places copies of materials with the The Ohio State University Library collection. We at AFU should get our acts together and send Bill a couple of boxes of Scandinavian surplus materials for that collection!
From Jan Kimby and Kenneth Karlsson, March 7
Jan Kimby has donated 22 books (upper row) and Kenneth Karlsson another 16 books (lower row) to the AFU library. Mostly Swedish titles which may to a large extent be used for exchange and sale purposes since we already have many copies of them in our library. Brought here by Clas Svahn. Thank you!
From Clas Svahn, March 7, 2006
Pictured to the right, some of the new items donated by Clas Svahn, brought to AFU by him on March 7.

From left to right: UFOt ja tiedemiehet   by Finnish ufologist Björn Borg ("UFOs and the scientists", printed in just 100 copies, why not an English edition of this international compilation of no less than 1.650 scientists speaking on the UFO question? - however, an English translation of the author's similar, previous compilation "UFOs and astronomers" may be underway in the US!);

Extraterrestrial contact  - what will it mean for humanity?  (a Fund for UFO Research paper edited by Richard Hall), UFO - a special dossier with new insights  (according to Clas one of the worst   UFO documentaries ever produced), Nick Redfern's Body snatcher's in the desert   (alternative to ET to explain Roswell), the Swedish Innanför cirkeln (includes long essay on early Swedish 'contactee' Emanuel Swedenborg) and Giant UFO in the Yukon territory  by Martin Jasek (very interesting Canadian case study).  Clas Svahn also brought with him a number of other recent donations to be presented here within the coming weeks (when we have had the time to review the material and make proper presentations).

From Loren E. Gross, Fremont, California, March 3, 2006.
Loren Gross has sent us the last volume of his UFO's: a history   series - accompanied by the letter on the left.

The Gross booklets have been a monumental achievement with, if I counted correctly, 112 volumes representing about 9.600 pages of reproduced texts and illustrations. AFU is missing one of the latest editions which must have been lost in the mail from the US.

The Gross series is a world-wide chronicle of the UFO era, from 1896 up to, and ending with, 1963.

From Mikhail Gershtein, St. Petersburg, Russia, February 2006.
Shortly before Christmas AFU had an email from Russian UFO researcher Mikhail Gershtein, suggesting a program of exchange:  "I can make a very great addition to your Russian UFO files, including  very rare books, newspapers, magazines, news clippings (some of these are  more than 30-50 years old),
photocopies, UFO manuscripts and much more. For exchange I want to receive some old or contemporary UFO books and magazines in English."

This was an excellent offer. Mikhail is the chairman of the Russian Geographical Society UFO Investigation Commission   and an editor of the well-known magazine Nexus  (Russian edition). We have now received the first parcel from Mikhail (see picture above), a second and third are on their way to Sweden, and several parcels of UFO-related spare books in English have been sent across the Baltic to St. Petersburg. It seems trans-Baltic shipping takes a lot longer than trans-Atlantic shipping from the US but who cares as long as the material arrives safely?

Mikhail transcribes cataloguing data for each book, magazine, and news clip, and includes this with the material. It is then shipped to AFU associates Clas Svahn and Stefan Roslund in Stockholm. The latter knows the Russian language and has long worked as UFO-Sweden's correspondent with the former Eastern Bloc countries. From them the material will go to AFU for sorting, cataloguing and preservation with our world-wide collection. We are looking forward to a great exchange!

From Marek Norman, British Columbia, Canada, January 2006
With increasing frequency we are getting emails and letters from people who have hit us on our web page and discovered our rather unique collections. We've had exchanges with researchers and relatives of several of ufology's luminaries, including people related to George Adamski   , Woodrow Derenberger  and Hermann Oberth . Recently we had an email, from Marek Norman, grandson of
American contactee Marke A. Norman   who wrote the book Many shall be called  , which was published in 1959 by Daniel Fry's Understanding   group. Marek was researching the life of his grand father. "His book and his life have always been a great mystery to me",  he wrote. Before we had the chance to send him a photo copy of the book we learned he had located an original and also a copy of a 2 minute interview with Marke A. Norman on CBS News in 1957, which Marek now kindly sent on for preservation with AFU. Picture above is a snapshot from the film. Great item!
From Per Andersen and the Board of SUFOI, January 2006.
Yet another parcel crammed with materials from the disbanded library of Scandinavian UFO Information (SUFOI) in Copenhagen. In the picture: some of the more rare books in this parcel that contained about thirty different items.

Two early Arcturus prints of Loren Gross 's UFO's: a history ; a complete collection of the four issues of the Italian-international UFO Phenomena   magazine; Richard Haines' Observing UFOs ; M. Minnaert's The nature of light and color in the open air; Randall Fitzgerald's The complete book of extraterrestrial encounters   (an annotated bibliography); Robert Boyd's International who's who in ufology    (1988); Two hardcovers by Robert Collyns; Brinsley le Poer Trench's The Eternal subject  ; and Arthur Bray's Canadian Science, the Public and the UFO.  All great books for our reference library!

From UFOMania Editions, Didier Gomez, Lombers, France, January 2006.
UFOmania is a French magazine which has existed since 1993, when the first of (by now) 45 issues was published. Didier Gomez is the editor of this zine, published by the Planéte OVNI group. Mr. Gomez has kindly sent us a box of materials published by the UFOmania group between 2003 and 2005, including 7 of the latest editions of the mag.

The parcel also included Bibliovni, a bibliography on a CD disc, with scans of front pages of hundreds of French media. This is an excellent addition to AFU that will help us in our work of establishing a reference library of world-wide UFO-related literature.

"We must keep a place to UFO publications all over the world and this place is at AFU-Sweden"   , Didier Gomez wrote in his first email to us. We do agree, of course!

Mr. Gomez also sent a copy of his own Appatitions insolites en Occitanie , which is a spiral bound 131 page booklet of regional folklore from the French province of Tarn, as compared with modern-day ufological tales (in the spirit of Vallée's Passport to Magonia). Regional UFO studies of this kind is especially valued by AFU!

In the parcel also: copies of a DVD on the October 2005 Châlon UFO conference ; a CD on the 5 November, 1990 phenomenon over France; Thibaut Canuti's Un fait modit  (reviewed on our Recent new books page), plus four second-hand French books on UFOs.  Merci bien!
