From Clas Svahn, Dec 15, 2002. Clas Svahn and colleagues  Håkan Ekstrand, Mats Nilsson and Andreas Ohlsson came by the archives while going back from a meeting of the UFO-Sweden board in the south-Swedish town of Ängelholm. They brought a number of goodies: A binder with manuals of ten early defence radar systems (copied at the Swedish defence); a DVD recording from the recent UFO-Sweden field investigation training course; 26 audio tapes from Erik Fredriksson (Solna Astronomiska Förening): a copy of the Japanese UFO-Noah battery lighter, in the shape of a classical 'Adamski scoutship'; an audio tape of a Swedish TV documentary on UFOs in May 1968, donated by Boris Jungkvist ; the Fitzgerald Report by Robert J. Durant (exchange with Bill Jones. Ohio); a copy of Colin Bennett's Politics of the imagination (on Charles Fort), donated by Svahn; and lots of other things. We almost lost our breath!
From Jacques Scornaux of SCEAU, France, Dec 6, 2002.
SCEAU (Sauvegarde, Conservation des Études et Archives Ufologiques) is the French counterpart of AFU. Collections are gathered by SCEAU and preserved with the French National Archive. This means they are spread throughout France. The (semi-annual?) Bulletin Annuel publishes minute detailed inventories. Issue no. 5 includes the files of well known ufologists like Michel Monnerie and Michel Figuet
From Ole Jonny Braenne, Oslo, Norway, Nov 30, 2002
Another 15 kilos of books and magazines including the latest issue of UK's UFO Magazine; a copy of Out of the shadows by David Clark and Andy Roberts; Paul Devereux's book Stone age soundtracks; issues of VSD (French commercial UFO mag); UFO-Norway's own FOIA CD-ROM disc; many issues of La Chronicle de la CLEU (Luxemburg); MUFON UFO Journal and early Birdsall's Quest publications; plus many, many other goodies including Earl Nelson's There is life on Mars, published in 1955. Thanks so very much!
From L.S. and I.N. (Norrköping), Nov 17, 2002.  Three second-hand IKEA Billy shelves, donated (I.N.) and bought at a very cheap price (L.S.). The two white shelves will be used for our expanding video library, the brown probably for some theme collection of library books.
From Clas Svahn, Nov 17, 2002 Five CD-ROM:s crammed with audio recordings of the "Märklich" program series on Radio Stockholm, a weekly show running since January 2002, co-produced by Clas.
From the publishers of Lumières dans la Nuit, Saint-Julien-l'Ars, France, Nov 5, 2002 A complete set of nine issues (numbers 357 --> 365) of Lumières dans la Nuit, Revue d'Ufologie.  AFU previously owned 173 issues of this great investigative journal, founded by Raymond Veillith and now edited by Joel Mesnard.  Merci bien!
From Ole Jonny Braenne and UFO-Norway, Oct 31, 2002 One heavy package (15 kilos?) crammed with magazines and books from Mentz Kaarbø, Finn Kalvik and Braenne's own collection. We've already sorted out the new book titles for our 'UFO folklore' library, such as  William Baldwin's  CE-VI, close encounters of the possession kind, David Fasold's The discovery of Noah's Ark, the Danish translations of Josef Blumrich's Kasskara book (on Hopi Indian traditions) and of the Vitko Novi contactee case from Peru. Also a very appreciated copy of Walter Webb's Buff Ledge book, one of the very best books on abductions.  Thanks again!
From Clas Svahn, Oct 27, 2002 Three packages of audio tapes, hundreds of them. This is mostly interview tapes from Svahn's own investigations of Swedish UFO cases. Labeled, but needs an inventory (database) and to be cross-referenced with our UFO reports collection. We think 'TapeAvailable' would be an appropriate field name for a new and expanded ScanCat database.
From Mats Nilsson and Enköping-Sala UFO-förening, Oct 27, 2002 A much needed labeling machine. We can now quickly manufacture self-adhesive labels (for our shelves, binders, etc) without starting the computer and word processor.  A very nice gift. Thanks very much!
From Enköpings UFO-förening Historical files and economy papers, providing a detailed history of this UFO society, now merged with the UFO society in neighboring town Sala.
From Loren Gross, Fremont, California, Oct 15, 2002 Yet another supplement in the UFOs: a history series: 1954 September.  France and Europe is heading for the great wave of landings....  And yet another supplement in the series (1954: January-May) arrived here October 31. And... a third (1954: June-August) was found in our mailbox on November 14.   A productive man!
From Willy Smith, Unicat Project, Miami. Florida, Oct 15, 2002 Two copies of Smith's book On pilots and UFOs, a collection of interesting cases from the Blue Book file and the Spanish Air Force records, published in 1997, a title that was new to the AFU library!  Foreword by Richard E. Haines. Presents and analysis ten cases.
From the heirs of Bernd Schumann, Helsingborg, Sweden, Sept 24, 2002 A collection of  84 video tapes  for our video tape reference library. For the most part the collection consists of  recorded documentaries and programs from Swedish, Danish and German television. Also some commercial documentaries and a copy of the German SF film Die Delegation. Bernd Schumann was one of the early Swedish ufologists and for decades (1950's, 1960's, 1970's) the Swedish representative of the German UFO-Nachrichten contactee-oriented magazine and a translator of Swedish reports into the German language.  Donation comes via Clas Svahn.

Also fine additions to our collection of newsletters 'UFO-Nytt'  from that society, of which she is a longtime member. 20 used books: one new title for our library, several second/third library copies, five titles for our AFU Antikvaria lists (Norwegian, Swedish, English). Donation comes via Clas Svahn
From Bill Jones, Sept 24, 2002 A collection of about 250 original newspaper clippings from the National Enquirer, National Tattler, Midnight, Globe, People and Christian Science Monitor, received  via Clas Svahn.  The Enquirer material covers the 1967-1978 period and provides telling examples of modern UFO folklore.
From Clas Svahn, Sept 24, 2002 Several files of material from FOI, the Swedish Research Institute of National Defence. 1) Copies of letters and reports to FOI (1990's up to 2002), will be integrated with our reports files; 2) Copies from a file folder "Radar echoes" recently found at FOI (1950s - 1965), will be integrated with our reports files: 3) Copies from file folder about unsolved metallic findings on a field in Västergötland, 1958.
From Mentz Kaarbö, Bergen,  Norway, August 2002 Five postal packages (about 50-60 kiloes) of magazines and books. Most part of this donation is the result of the magazine exchange between the Nordic UFO Newsletter, published by Nordic UFO Groups 1981-1988, and UFO groups world-wide. The collection comes from the newsletter's editor Mentz Kaarbö of Bergen, Norway via Ole Jonny Braenne, chairman of UFO-Norway. Mag collection was integrated with the AFU master collection, and  updated in our database, during August, creating also a large number of duplicates. One of the main new acquisitions were a large number of issues of the German CENAP Report.
