From Clas Svahn, August 2008. |

Bo Berg
is one of the archivists of the
Military Archives in Stockholm which houses, among
thousands of meters of documents on Swedish war- and
peace-keeping efforts since the 16th century, a few feet of
documents related to the official investigations of the
ghost plane waves of the 1930s and the 1946 ghost rockets.
Uniquely, Bo Berg is also a
percipient of a ghost rocket! This happened in August 1980
when he visited the Muddus national park in the extreme
north of Sweden. A rocket-like object crashed into a lake
right in front of him. |
| The sighting
is still unidentified by authorities and by UFO-Sweden, who
have both documented the case. The story is part of this
book published by the archive in 2008 and written by 18
archivists with very interesting stories to tell, based on
the archives' collections. Another witness to a 1948 ghost
rocket (that also crashed into water) was the then Supreme
Commander of the Military, Helge Jung (picture on the
right). |

From different publishers and
authors during Sept 2008. |
|
In September we received four interesting new books from
different publishers or authors.
From Italy's
UPIAR came this catalogue of no less than 744
Norwegian photo cases, compiled by Vicente-Juan Ballester
Olmos and Ole Jonny Braenne. This A4
publication has no paging (roughly 200, though). No less
than 469 of the items come from the Hessdalen valley.
Included was also the publication stored on a disc!

From Charbuy in France came
another surprise parcel with
Rémy Fauchereau's 50 ans de manifestations
O.V.N.I. dans l'Yonne, dedicated to AFU by the author.
It is a regional catalogue of UFO cases from the department
of Yonne, which is part of the cental-French region of
Bourgogne. Just 28 pages long but printed on glossy paper
and with some very nice illustrations. |
|
Clas Svahn bought a copy of
Robert Hastings new 600 pages tome and was offered a
second copy for free, for AFU's collection, if we paid the
shipping cost. UFO and the Nukes. Extraordinary
encounters at nuclear weapons sites is a 31 chapter book
where Hastings interviews and documents sightings close to
the missile bases. Roberts father worked at Malmstrom AFB in
Montana where some of the intrusions occurred. |
 |
 |
Another surprise parcel came from
Bear & Company in Rochester, Vermont, publishers of
Paul A. LaViolette's book Secrets of antigravity
propulsion - Tesla, UFOs, and classified aerospace
technology.
This is also a tome-like
(500 pages) book that reviews the works of many
technically-minded inventors, from Tesla to Searl. A lot of
interesting material, documents and patents in this book
which is the fourth by the author published by Bear (Inner
Traditions). |

From Luis R. Gonzalez, Malaga,
Spain, May 15, 2008 |
 |
Spanish
ufologist Luis R. Gonzalez wrote the following on a
European mailing list: "To create a custom that should be
shared by all other authors, I want to donate to the
libraries of the CISU and AFU repositories my book." One
week later we have the book in our hands and will catalogue
it for our CA (contacts - abductions) shelf in the AFU
library! We can just applaud Luis's suggestion!
The book (see left) is one
in a series of skeptical books on different kinds of
mysteries. (There is another one in the series by the name
Los ovnis !vaya timo! authored by Ricardo Campo).
|
 |
Gonzalez,
a founding member of Fundaction Anomalia (which also
maintains an archive), represents the (mainly) European
school who sees alternative explanations behind the UFOs
than just 'simple' ETs.
"Considering its short
length (156 pages), it cannot be an exhaustive and academic
work; it is better described as a critical but entertaining
approach to many of those details almost never mentioned in
the ufological literature about the subject." |

From Richard W. Heiden,
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, May 2008 |
| The
Eagle River Historical Society of Wisconsin has produced
(2007) a heavy 452 page history of the area, with focus on
the latest 150 years. The Eagle River flying saucer
landing in April 1961 occupies three
pages (95-97) of this tome that includes everything, and
more, you've always wanted to know about the history of
Eagle River.
The book was kindly
bought and sent to us by our Wisconsin correspondent
Richard W. Heiden, who has been a correspondent of AFU
since our early years in the 1970s. Rich also included photo
copies of the pages in question, meaning that AFU can easily
produce second-generation copies of the pages with Joe
Simonton's own story, without breaking up the book. Thank
you, Rich! |

From Clas Svahn, January 2008
|
 |
Daniel
Vandinja is a Swedish ex-member (even short time
ex-chairman of the Swedish chapter) of the Raëlian UFO cult
movement, who has now written a book that compares the Raël
group with masonic orders in our history.
"I had no choice but to
leave the Raëlian movement, there were simply too many
similarities between the Raëlian agenda and that of the
Illuminati's New World Order. Thus, in 2007, I nullified my
Cellular Plan Transmission (CPT) and left the Raelian
movement." |
|
You might find his conspiracy views interesting, and if so,
Vandinja's 113 page book is downloadable for free
here.
Clas Svahn has provided AFU with a printed copy for our
shelf of Raëlian materials. |

From Magnus Gustafsson, January
2008 |
| Welcome to
Sweden (despite the title only a few pages are in
English, and they really are not relevant to the remainder
of the book) - is an interview book with the life
stories of people connected to the Swedish town of Koping.
It is written by
Magnus Gustafson, a local journalist.
We note the book here just
because twenty pages of its contents (one of the interviews)
is with Bevan Berthelsen, former chairman of
UFO-Sweden. The interview provides some interesting insights
into the early years of UFO-Sweden, i.e. Berthelsen's
attempts (mid- 70s) to open communication lines with the
secretive Swedish military during the heydays of the Cold
War. |

From Per-Erik Tell,
Kristianstad, Sweden, January 2008 |
 |
A
large number of books, published in many countries of the
world, touch the UFO, ET and saucer themes in subtle ways,
sometimes just in a few lines, or in one or two chapters.
They all contribute, however, to society's and its citizen's
perceived view of 'the UFO phenomenon'.
The book on the left,
Efter alla dessa år (After all these years). is a new
(2007) Swedish fiction novel that tells the story of
ordinary citizens who give up their old existence, take
loans on the bank, and go out into wilderness to search for
a crashed flying saucer..! |
| The book's
author, Per-Erik Tell, visited AFU this summer to
collect ideas for an investigative article about UFO
research in Sweden. This article was published this winter
in a company newsletter distributed for free on tourist
charter flights to and from Sweden. |
