UFO Monitors East Kent
(UFOMEK) - The Blue Folder
| In 2005 AFU
acquired a new clippings CD, "The Blue Folder"
from UFO Monitors of East Kent (UFOMEK), headed
by Chris Rolfe. The disc is a collection of UFO and
related stories that were published by the British press between
1950 and 1953.
The material on this disc originates from
Geoff Morris , who contacted the group in 2002. The
disc auto starts and you can either
view the collection of several hundred clippings (JPEG format)
in a stream, or by selecting important cases
you are interested in, from a menu. My only trouble with the CD
was that I had to restart from the very beginning each time I
changed to another session in Windows. |
 |
| Browsing the
index, the disc contains a total of more than 500 files, divided
between HTML and JPEGs. Quite a bonus is a
black/white filmed interview with Captain Howard of the
contemporary BOAC UFO fame! A fine job by UFOMEK. If
interested in purchasing a copy you might contact

The Tyneside UFO
Society clipping collection
In the spring of 2003, AFU made
contact with Gary Anthony and Joe McGonagle ,
British ufologists, which resulted in an exchange of a collection of
older British magazines against copies from a news clipping collection
from the defunct Tyneside UFO Society . Gary Anthony
described how the copies had been collected:
"Recently Joe McGonagle and I returned from spending some 48+ man hours
working with the Tyneside UFO Society archive at City Library,
Newcastle . While there we were able to ascertain the
condition of the archive, which is in a quite good state of preservation
except for a news clipping collection. You will be glad to learn we were
able to carefully photocopy a considerable part, amounting to around 400
newspaper and magazine clippings, mostly from the UK and dating from
1947 to 1968. (we brought back around 790 photocopies total). We
were able to take a basic inventory of the entire collection and some
digital images showing volume. One of the rare items we found was a reel
to reel audio tape and transcription of a lecture which George
Adamski gave to the people of Newcastle. Best Regards,
Gary Anthony."
The TUFOS clipping collection
was in April 2005 ordered, chronologically, into a file folder (see
picture), which also includes, at the end, the transcript of the Adamski
lecture.

The Patrick Murray
clipping collection
In November 2004,
AFU received, as a donation, a British clipping collection from
researcher / author Hilary Evans.
The collection comprises
ten
oversized clipping albums collected during the
period 1947-1972 by Patrick Murray, Curator of the Museum of
Childhood in Edinburgh. The files include a poster announcing contactee
George Adamski 's lecture in Edinburg on May 5, 1959, during his
worldwide tour, and another poster announcing Patrick Murray 's own
lecture on January 27, 1972, the subject being "Flying saucers? The
lunatic fringe?". The collection also includes two
volumes of British newspapers from the 1988-1993 period (A4 sizes in two
