Annual report 2005

Bits and  pieces on  accomplished projects are noted here as a preparation for a 2005 annual report!

Audio tape library

One of the priorities - this year - has been sorting and cataloguing our collections of audio tape libraries. They come from 15-20 different sources and include a total of almost 2.000 audio cassettes and a number of older "roll" tapes. The largest collection come from UFO-Sweden chairman Clas Svahn.

The cataloguing might be viewed as a preparation for a future project to transfer the most important and valuable sound materials (case and personal interviews, conference recordings, radio programs) to digital format files (DVD). Many of our older audio tapes (especially cheap low quality tapes from the 1960s and 1970s) are in danger of being lost due to de-magnetization.

January- February
AFU sent several packages with trade materials to Archives for UFO Research, News and Information Service in Seattle, Washington, USA, managed by Rod B. Dyke.
The shipments were made as a part of a long term exchange deal with Dyke's archive, where AFU received about 60 kilos in November 2004. So far we have received 659 items from the American AFU and they have received 513 items from us. We are making yet another shipment ready in early April 2005 to set the unbalanced record straight.
